McCain to Take Political Advantage of Hurricane Gustav

Politico reports that John McCain may give his speech accepting the Republican Party nomination for President from the area that is about to be hit by hurricane Gustav. It's looking more and more like it could be New Orleans, only three years after Hurricane Katrina.

What an ass! Way to use people who my have just lost everything to give a political speech.

By the way, what was John McCain doing on the very day that Katrina hit three years ago?

Celebrating his 69th birthday with some dude of course...

As someone who is tired of hearing about Katrina and who resents his tax dollars being spent in this manner, I'm not the most sympathetic to those in New Orleans. They knew it could happen, yet they stayed. Now, after it happened, they returned. However, just for fun, help me understand this: Three years ago you wanted the President to break Federal law (and, for that matter, ignore the Constitution) and rush into New Orleans. Yet, in this storm, you're now complaining that McCain is headed down there. Has everyone on the Left lost their mind? The hypocrisy and idiocy is astounding.

i dont think anyone wanted Bush to go down to New Orleans to take political advantage of the situation, like it seems McCain is planning to. "We" wanted him to help. Break Federal Law by helping people who were completely helpless...get real? Also, people could have left and many did but many were extremely poor and had no where to go. Maybe you have no problem driving a hundred miles away from your home and paying for gas, staying in a hotel for a few days, etc. Not everyone can. They knew it could happen...yes...so everyone who lives in disaster zones should not expect proper aid from their government? The lack of compassion and is astounding.

Ken, let me understand something: you are upset about your tax dollars going towards helping citizens of your own country displaced by a natural disaster. Are you equally outraged about your tax dollars going towards fighting a pointless, unprovoked war based on lies and misinformation? Just curious...
